Failing your first driving test is discouraging but manageable. Failing the second brings real doubt. Failing the third means starting entirely over — new application, new fees, new written test. It's a tough position to be in.
That's where Victor was.
First test in Simi Valley — a critical error ended it early. Second in Glendale — he completed the route but made 17 mistakes, two over the limit. Third in Whittier — another critical error, another early stop. Three tests, three different cities, no license.
We met a few hours before his fourth attempt in Montebello. We went over the evaluation criteria, practiced the key maneuvers, reviewed the examiner's vocabulary, and drove the area around the DMV.
When he left with the examiner, I felt confident. When he came back, that confidence turned into genuine pride.
Zero errors.
Congratulations, Victor. That's as good as it gets.
