Ana Isabela got legal — before her permit expired

May 2026 · Ana Isabela, Los Angeles

Some students come to me with plenty of driving experience — just not the right kind. Ana Isabela had been driving in Los Angeles for a while on her Brazilian license. The problem: it had expired. Technically, she was driving without a valid license.

Like many immigrants in LA, navigating the DMV process added an extra layer of complexity. She had her California permit but kept postponing the test — until the deadline got real. Her permit was set to expire in June.

We worked through the logistics together and locked in a date at the Torrance DMV. She was a confident driver — maybe a little too confident, consistently going over the speed limit on local streets. We worked on that together, and she listened, adjusted, and improved quickly.

On May 21st, she passed.

Here's what she had to say: "I had a great experience with Luiz as a driving instructor. He is very patient, attentive, and knows how to explain everything in a simple and clear way, which helped me feel confident behind the wheel. Thanks to his support, I passed my driving test. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a good instructor here in LA."
