Lucia's first attempt was at the Santa Monica DMV — one of the offices with the lowest pass rates in Los Angeles. Her companion hadn't prepared her properly: no instrument panel walkthrough, no practice laps around the area, no explanation of what the test actually involves. And she drew a rude examiner. She failed.
It was only after all of that that she reached out to me — and that's when things started properly.
She did a three-lesson package, learned several techniques, and ran multiple simulations on the Winnetka DMV routes. But the first experience had left a mark. The anxiety was real, and on her second attempt, it got the better of her.
She didn't give up. She booked a third date immediately and kept practicing on her own in the meantime.
On test day number three, almost unbelievably, she got another difficult examiner — authoritative tone from the start, insisting on speaking Spanish throughout, and complaining that Lucia had closed the left window.
She passed anyway.
I was more than impressed. I was proud. Congratulations, Lucia.
